The Center for Qualitative Psychology invites submissions for contributions
to the XVIII Workshop on Qualitative Psychology,
April 13, 2015 to April 15, 2018

General Information

The XVIII Workshop of Qualitative Research in Psychology (2018) will take place at the Karlsruhe University of Education, Bismarckstraße 10, 76133 Karlsruhe, Germany. Meeting dates are April 13, 2018 to April 15, 2018.

Keynote speaker will be Joseph A. Maxwell.
You may listen to one of his earlier presentations on "Realism in Qualitative Inquiry" on Youtube or
have a look at one of his publications ("A Realist Approach for Qualitative Research") in Goodreads.

Scope of the Workshop

Participants will present and discuss their research in the context of small thematic work groups and during times for discussion and exchange. Because of the workshop character, presenters are invited not only to share their research results, but especially to engage in joint discussions about open questions and issues of research methodology in psychology that they currently are trying to solve. Junior faculty and doctoral students are welcomed as well as more senior researchers. There will be plenty of time for networking.

We invite you to send an abstracts
by February 15th, 2018 to CQPworkshop2018@ph-karlsruhe.de
Research papers on qualitative psychology will be presented and discussed in parallel work groups.
Accepted posters will on display during the entire conference.
In addition, doctorate consulting will take place in three groups (consulting with senior researchers in the area of qualitative psychology, with discussions either in Spanish, German or English).

Topics and Guidelines

Abstracts for paper presentations, posters, or consulting are welcomed.
Submit all abstracts by Febr. 15, 2018 to CQPworkshop2018@ph-karlsruhe.de
All submissions will be peer reviewed.
Acceptance notices will be given asap.

For a paper presentation (presentation & discussion within a thematic group), please submit a 300 word abstract on a current research project, including relevance to qualitative psychology, methods used, results, and explicit elaboration on the methodological challenges and innovations of the project that are relevant to qualitative psychology in general.
Papers on qualitative research in education or social sciences at large are welcome, too.

For a poster presentation (poster to be presented during the whole conference and discussed for at a scheduled poster session), please submit a 200 word abstract on a research project or a position relevant to qualitative psychology, including methods used, and explicit elaboration on the methodological challenges and innovations of the project that are relevant to qualitative psychology in general.

For being included in the research consulting group, please submit a 300 word abstract about your general research topic, methods used, and issues you are currently working on and would like to discuss with experienced qualitative researchers. Master and doctoral candidates are encouraged be included. Please indicate if English, Spanish or German will be the preferred working language for your consulting.

o Proposals will be peer reviewed.
o Authors will deliver and discuss their papers at workgroups during the meeting.
o New researchers are invited to submit a 200 word abstract for the research consulting session. o We will provide feedback for master's theses and dissertations in progress.

Individuals planning to participate in the meeting in Karlsruhe need to register at least by March 15, 2018 (see "Main Dates").
The registration fee should be paid by March 1st, 2018 (early registration) or at least by March 15th, 2018 (late registration).

The registration fee will cover conference participation. Additional cost will occur for accommodation, food and -if necessary - for child care (€ 10.- per child) during the conference.
The Karlsruhe University of Education offers a Bachelor degree in early childhood education. Qualified students of this program will provide childcare during the meeting. Please indicate need for child care at early bird registration. A handling fee of € 10.- for child care organization will be charged. Please indicate number and ago of the children for enrollment in child care and your contact information. Prior to the conference, those conference participants who enrolled into the child care program will be contacted to discuss details of their child care needs.
